FAQ

signals from the surface

Are there single day tickets available?

No, we are only selling 3-day/2-night tickets. We encourage everyone to stay for the full experience! There will be music and programming from 2 PM on Friday, June 19 until 12:30 PM on Sunday, June 21.

Can I buy tickets the day of?

No! Sales end on Thursday, June 18, though we expect the festival will sell out before then. So get your ticket soon!

When can I arrive and leave?

We strongly recommend staying on site for the full time to get the full Outer Bass experience! However, we understand that may not be possible for everyone. Please adhere to the following guidance as much as possible:

Arrival

Gates are open the following days/times so that we can check in you and your vehicle. Please carpool! Bring your ID.

  • Friday, June 19: 11 AM to 6 PM.
  • Saturday, June 20: between 10 AM to 6 PM.

Please note: Entry gates are closed beginning at dinner time (6 PM) to cultivate a closed container and to allow our volunteers and organizers to eat, enjoy the festival, and focus efforts on the festival experience.

If you cannot arrive during these windows, please email outerbassfest@gmail.com with your planned arrival time before Thursday, June 18 at 12 PM so we can plan accordingly.

Artists, please arrive by dinner time. We would love to welcome and feed you dinner before you play.

Departure

The gate will be locked each day starting at 11 PM and will be reopened in the morning. Please note, it is likely that your car will be blocked in. If you think you’ll need to leave, we ask for you to check in with our greeters when parking to make sure you are well situated. We recommend planning to stay until Sunday departure to ease parking conflicts when possible.

Campers must leave festival grounds by Sunday at 5 PM. We encourage everyone to pack up and leave by 3 PM.

Re-entry

You may exit and re-enter if needed, however we do urge your attendance for the entirety of the festival when possible. You will still need to adhere to the above arrival instructions.

What is the location like? What will the weather be like?

It’s a forested private property in the Santa Cruz mountains with areas of shade and areas of sun. The property is on the side of the mountain, with hand-built staircases and mountain pathways. The terrain may be rough or uneven in places so we recommend sturdy shoes and lights at night.

Expect warm to hot days, chilly evenings, and cold nights. You can look up the weather forecast for Boulder Creek, CA, for a detailed forecast.

Specific location/address will be released to ticket holders in June to protect the privacy of the venue.

How does camping work? Can I camp in my car or van?

All festival passes include tent camping (tent only — no vehicle). If you drive a car, you must purchase a Docking Pass to park it or to sleep in your vehicle. If you wish to sleep in your car or van, you will be directed to a separate parking lot designated for vehicle camping. There is no off-site parking, so every vehicle must have a Docking Pass.

Tent camping

There are two designated camping areas for tents only — the Seamount and Plains. They are up the hill from parking areas. The Plains camping area is closer to the parking area and is more central/social. The Seamount camping area sits atop a hill above the main area, features sunshine and a beautiful view, and it’s about a 5–10 minute hike uphill from where you will park your car. For both campsites, please plan to carry your gear or bring a wagon with sturdy wheels.

Vehicle camping

There is one designated camping area for vehicle sleeping below the main festival grounds, a short walk to the festival. There are limited vehicle camping spaces and limited flat ground for vehicles, so we encourage tent camping where possible. Bring blocks for your vehicle if you wish to level it. There is no space for RVs or trailers, so limit your vehicle size to a van or pickup truck.

Glamping

We have glamping tents available for purchase. The glamping area is up the hill in the forest beyond the grounds. With a glamping pass, you may drive to and park in the glamping area (you still need a Docking Pass).

If you are getting a ride from a friend or taking a rideshare app, you may be dropped off at the grounds without a Docking Pass.

What meals are provided? Can I buy any food or drinks on-site?

We are providing communal dinners both nights (Friday and Saturday) at 6:15 PM, included in the cost of the ticket.

Friday
  • Vegan chili, cornbread muffins, mixed greens salad
  • Vegan/gf cornbread available upon request — please reach out in advance.
Saturday
  • Red lentil dal, herbed rice, and coconut stewed greens
  • Everything vegan and gluten free

For the communal meals, disposable bowls and utensils will be provided. Drinks will not be provided so please BYO.

There are several potable water spigots scattered around the property, bring your own containers.

We will not have vendors on site, so please bring your own breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks, as well as your own kitchen gear. No glass bottles or containers! You can keep personal food in the camping area in/near your tent but be mindful that we are in the woods so there may be critters around! Bringing something critter-proof to store food in is a good idea. We encourage coordinating/sharing cooking gear with friends!

Will washing stations be available to wash our dishes?

Unfortunately, we won’t have shared washing stations for dirty dishes. We recommend soap/water in a spray bottle with towels/paper towels or a small contained washing station.

There will be trash and recycling available on the property but please bring your own personal trash bags if you want trash available at your camping area.

Is there potable water on-site?

Yes, there are several potable water spigots around the property. Bring your own reusable water bottles or jugs to fill.

What is the bathroom situation?

There will be several porta potties. You may want to bring a toilet paper roll and hand sanitizer as backup.

Is there cell service on the property?

There is limited cell service in some areas of the property and some areas with no service.

When will the schedule be released?

The schedule will be released in an email before the event begins.
